The following story was written by Daryl, one of our inspirational participants who we helped pursue his passion for mechanics. Daryl was matched with one of our amazing Support Coordinators, who did some research to find an appropriate course where Daryl could pursue his passion in a safe and respectful environment. My New Lease on Life, Living a Long Time Dream
“My Support Coordinator sourced a mechanical course that I could participate in, something that I have always being interested in but never thought I would have an opportunity to do. The course is fantastic. I am gaining experience, to date we have repaired some brakes, learnt about engine wiring, worked on a CB radio and car stereo and a door lock. This week, I am very excited as we are pulling apart and repairing an automatic transmission box.
I love the course.
I have met a couple of new people who like me, enjoy working with motors. Mum and I met with my Support Coordinator, she made us feel very comfortable and relaxed as we chatted about lots of things. She took the time to get to know me and to learn about my interests and what types of things I wanted to do and have in my life.
